Battery Drain since installing iOS 6.1.3

Both my iPhone 4S and iPad 2 batteries are draining excessive fast since I updated to iOS6.1.3. I also noticed that if a message or notification comes in while I am recharging the battery, the recharge process stops until I remove the message/notification from the screen. My iPad was down to 30% power when I connected it to charge 3 days ago and its only up to 88% now. I've left it connected and not used any apps or functions.

Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have any suggestions/ideas for fixing this issue?
