Compact flash card w/camera connection kit not seen iPad

I have attached a compact flash card to my iPad4 with the camera connection kit. The card has .mp4 video on it. The card is not seen by the iPad. If I connect my usb card reader to my iMac iMove gets an error reading the files, but does see them. If I put the card into the CF slot on the iMac I see the mp4 files and can drag them on to my hard drive. I did not try iMove with the card in the slot. The files are imported off the hard drive into iMovie and all is fine. I noticed the CF card is formatted FAT32. WIll the iPad see a FAT32 CF card or does it have to be a MAC format. Or is it something else

This is quite confusing because Apple's iPad Camera Connection Kit (shown in the link below) is not compatible with the iPad 4.

So are you using some other manufacturer's kit? Are you using some adapter (which probably would cause the kit not to work with thei iPad 4)?

FAT32 format is OK.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.

Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).

Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Yes I am using the Apple Lightning to 30 pin connector adapter to use the CCK. I will take it back and get the Lightning to CF conector.

For the video to be visible you need to have a folder named DCIM on your card, and then the mp4 has to have a file name of 8 characters, MOV_2345 for example. and your mp4 needs to be in that DCIM folder.
