Q: My Battery indicator shows "Not Charging"?

My Battery indicator shows "Not Charging" do I need a SMC Firmware Update or something else for my MacBook 4,1?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), MacBook 4,1

    Hi bpfdavid,

     

    If the battery does not appear to be charging properly. Resetting the SMC is a common fix.

    Try another power cord or power adapter to test whether the problem is with the power supply or the computer itself.

    On portable computers, the power adapter plug glows amber if the battery is being charged, and glows green when fully charged.
