I'm scanning all my old slides. And every time I finish a scan, Preview automatically opens the pic.
I have Preview as my jpg default, which I would like to keep (not Photoshop, etc).
But I'd like Preview to NOT auto-open these files once they're created.
Any ideas?

If you are using Preview to do the scanning it does open the scan. I don't see any way to stop that.
If you are scanning through your scanner software, it goes directly to the selected folder without any intervention from Preview.app. I just tested this. And my Preview is also set as the default for jpgs.
I'm guessing it's a preference in the scan software you're using.
Not sure what printer or scanning software you are using, but if you open and use Image Capture in your App Folder you can direct the Scan To: any number of Folders, Apps or Desktop.

Duh. IT WAS in my VueScan prefs. It was just listed weirdly. It simply said "viewer" and nothing about opening the file. But I unchecked it, and now Preview doesnt' automatically open. Yay!
