After trying all the things (almost all of them) mentioned in this thread I broke out the long lost paper clip and put it to the Airport Express. Set up as though it had just been unboxed. Lo and behold! All systems were again working. The original Airport Express (whatever they refer to it as) an old iMac (maybe 6 years old - 10.6.8 and only 2GB memory) and an iPad2 3G are the devices I struggle with. No smart phone and a Windows OS7 at work. So when does it get easier and not more difficult and confusing? Better hurry up - I am running out of birthdays. Geo

I have the same problem since I updated ipad2 can't find my access point or it does and I only get 1bar,I called apple and after trouble shooting steps didn't work I was told that they would replace it if I forked over 250.00,I got very upset and asked to speak to a supervisor explained the issue and finally they are going to repair my iPad for if anybody sees this post try that and I hope it works.if it does post a reply so I know good luck.also I've found that if you hold the power button and home button for a couple seconds the connection pops up but goes away quick hope this helps

So, just an update on my situation. I finally found some time to go into Apple and they scoped out my iPad 2. The guy said he didn't know the problem and couldn't run a network diagnostic because I didn't have wifi and it could've been a faulty wireless antenna. He took it back and literally gave me a new iPad. Not exactly sure what happened, my iPad was still very young (~3 months old). Might be the easy suggestion to fixing your ipad.

SAME Problem...and I ain't about to pay Apple another $250 to get an refurbed ipad2.

Went to the Genius Bar and the guy could not find anything wrong.

Thx GOD my update failed 2 times.. i'm so excited to uppgrade  iOS 6.1.3 before but after I read all those posting. I thank GOD still have iOS 5.1.1 on my device!

Same thing here. Within a week, 2 Apple devices just would not work (iPad and Apple TV Mirroring). Did all the stuff that was suggested above, no luck. Anyway, much of the time I'm in a place where I can't just go a re-set a router (coffee shops, hotels, airports etc). What Apple suggests is really not a solution at all.

Does anyone know how to go back to an earlier version of iOs?

  • atblaura Level 1 Level 1

That is what I have been asking, but no one has answered.   Please, anyone out there, do you know how to put the iOS 5.1.1 system back on to an ipad 2?

Are all of you using iPad that have wifi AND cellular?   or wifi only devices?

I have an iPad mini (wifi and cellular), no problems and an  iPad 2 (wifi only), it has never faultered.

We also have a bunch of other Apple gadgets...

The latest update caused a ton of Apps to need updates (kids and free Apps).

I do have an Apple router, the airport extreme, and it's the best router I've had in the past 3 years.  After contant problems with 2 Motorola routers, a Belkin and a NetGear (sniff - when it worked, it was the best!),

iPhone 4S,  iPad 2, iPad mini and The new iPad, 2 iPod Touch 4's and an iPod Touch 5, all working fine.

**When Apps crash after many updates, the best fix is to delete the App (which has become something of a frankenstein monster with many patches), and redownload the App.  Possibly, the solution for you system on the iPad also?

It means backing up the device, resetting all settings and content (wiping the device of all content), set up again as if it were new, then restore from the backup.

    To Gazdzzy, who wrote:

"Since updating to IOS6 on my iPad (4th Gen), the Wifi connection has been extremely slow and "choppy". I have tried every optimising every single setting on my wireless router (my wife says I can be a tech support now) but nothing works."

If you have a 4th Generation iPad, it CAME WITH IOS 6 already installed.  There have been updates to IOS 6, but as you are running on the new platform and hardware, you are not effected.

I suggest you check you Internet carrier, modem and router.

Same problem here. This is ridiculous and unacceptable!  What is going on with this company?  So many people frustrated by the same issue and still no fix. Apple should have addressed this problem long ago. My mobile device is crippled and I definitely didn't purchase this device to add headaches to my life!  GET ON IT APPLE!

I have the same issue  too here on my ipad2 since I have upgraded to ios 6.1.3 I didnt know that its a software problem but i Just knew that from here > I'm glad and sad at the same time cuz I knew that its not my ipad but its a software problem. Please Apple you gotta fix this problem ASAP

  • rastro4 Level 1 Level 1

Same here! Very annoying. I've tried resetting my router, and it helps somewhat at home, but I use my iPad extensively at my gig and can't connect there at all. Please let me know if anyone finds a solution, or if there's a way to go back to iOS 5.
