Compress video to 10mb

Hi I'm not too familiar with the best way to compress my videos. I have a 4 1/2 minute video that I need compressed to 10mb. How would be the best way to compress that without losing too much of the quality??

My tried and true method...

File - Export - Quicktime Conversion... change defalut/recent to BROADBAND HIGH... then OPTIONS

Change the size to 320x240 ((or 320x180) for 16:9)). This uses h.264 and is very nice.

Will be about 2 to 2.5 megs per minute. Then, if you are going to the web you can force the page to scale it up 2x or 1.5x with NO quality loss. Or, if you are just going to watch it on the computer you can scale it up yourself.

I realize the quality loss....but I'm trying to find the best way so that I don't lose ALL the quality. I have "apple compressor" and thats it. So I'll try the M-PEG1 but is anyone familiar with apple compressor?

I'm not sure...I haven't messed with it at my computer at work. I'm not at the office so I'll have to check tomorrow and let you know. I've messed around with a version of it before and the only way I could get the video down to 10mb was making the window so small you could hardly see anything that was going on.

Thanks for that Patrick, but seeing as I haven't tried it yet...and I was still discussing Compressor...I wasn't ready to say that it was 100% solved. I'm trusting that one solution will work, but I want to make sure first. I'll mark it answered...but if you have other solutions please respond!!

Understood - since Apple changed the format of the discussions, the education on their use seems to be an ongoing process - folks often leave with the answer never to return. Sorry to rush you...

MPEG-1, flv (Flash) or a small resolution WMV may do it. Sorenson Squeeze Suite will give you the most options. But you should realize that any compession will mean a quality loss.
