Switched from Iphone 4 to Galaxy S4 and cannot receive texts from iPhones

This is a logical error with Message app on iPhone. I have this problem with my friends who jumped ships as well. What I do is turn on the "send as SMS". This way, the phone will initially send as iMessage, then turn to text message after time out. Unfortunately nothing you can do on your andoird though.

Hey I work for AT&T and I just spent an entire day with a gentleman who was having this issue it took three visists and about 3 hours to get it figured out. You need to reset the contact so that the iPhone does not see the andriod phone as an iPhone. The easiset way to do it is delete the contact and then recreate it. Not fun I know but the person leaving the iPhone will never get messages from you unless this is done. This is one reason I push people away from iphone too proprietary

Go to your support profile, remove the iphone:

I have tried all of thease sugestions. None of them want to work. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Go to your message settings on your iphone and turn imessage off.

It's quite easy - but you need your old iPhone.... On your old iPhone, go the Settings > Messages and turn off iMessages.

I had this exact problem and just figured it out. I have an apple computer and I was getting my texts from iphone users on the computer....imessage is built in. Once I turned it off on the computer, I began receiving the texts on my phone. I hope this helps you because it is really frustrating! Just saved myself $50. 🙂

I traded I my iPhone 4S and got the galaxy s4 and it seems my phone number is still associated to iMessage. I called the store back and had them turn off iMessage and reset it back to factory settings and than I went to my apple device and unregistered it but that still didn't work. I am not getting texts from my husband who still has an iPhone. Or anyone with an iPhone for that matter.

Gotta wonder if Samdung is perhaps compensating some of those here who claim they switched.

As Johnathan Burger said. Remove the phone from your profile. THEN, using the apple site, change your password. Doing so will force the phone to diconnect from the imessage system. If you still have your iphone with you, DO NOT enter new password.

This is an Apple problem, not a Samsung one. Apple is trying to force iMessage, but it should be falling back to SMS when iMessage times out, or recognizing that the receiving device isn't Apple. Either way, it's an Apple bug they need to fix.

The iPhone user needs to change their messaging to SMS. I just spend countless hours reading posts and calling AT&T.

Settings-messaging-SMS turned to on position.

Also UNREGISTER all Apple devices under your Apple ID that use iMessage.

It's a Mac glitch due to their proprietary policies. Yet one more reason, after 25 years of being a Mac user, I switched to Chrome.

After countles searches I finally fixed the issue, however, I'm not sure which thing I did finally fixed the problem. I'll just list everything that I tried in no particular order:

1. Logged into iCloud and removed my old iPhone from my profile.

2. Reset the password on my apple ID so that any other ios device that used my profile would be forced to resynch.

3. Removed the phone from my support profile by going to https://daw.apple.com, logging in and removing the phone.

One of the above resolved the issue, try all three until you see that it works.

#3 works 100% of the time when #1 and #2 has failed.
