keyboard not working on snow leopard

Hello, I know that there is a thread about this but I really need the answer quick. I ordered the snow leopard to upgrade the iMac4.1 in my workplace. I got it and update it however that after installation I couldnt use the USB keyboard anymore. USB is connected and its even showing on the "More Info" in the about page and the mouse even works when its connected on the keyboard. I had a Apple Pro Keyboard and I need to fix this problem instead of buying a new one. Any ideas?

Note that im using a different computer to post this question

PS. how do I use the apple mac store?

Zap the PRAM. If this works.....

OS X (10.6.3)

Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS. Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer. When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

hmm thats a lot of work. I didnt know that I have to do the software update, since I just 1st used a mac recently for ios dev. It be nice if the installer update everything for me 😟. So how do I repair permission?

Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and select your volume and then select Repair Permissions.

Same directions are also in the OS Mac Help Menu.

hope you dont mind me turning this into a troubleshooting discussion. So I did a software update but when its done and rebooted the iMac doesnt get into the desktop anymore. I waited for about 4hrs and its still on the loading screen. All I see is a gray background with an apple and a bar circling around. What do I do now?

Bummer, I updated the software and the os but the keyboard is still not working. The only thing working is the buttons sound up,sound down, mute, and eject button. Do I need a keyboard update, or just buy a new keyboard?

All of Apple's updates will be in Software Update.

If zapping the pram or resetting the smu does not work, looks like a trip to the Apple Store or an AASP.

Did you update your os? If so, please correct your system profile.
