Pretty Geometric Patterns all over my MacBook Pro screen

My Mac Pro screen suddenly developed a strange pattern over the entire screen and the computer immediatelyfroze.

When I tried to reboot, it came up normal gray screen and connected to my Wifi, but the screen comes up with geometric colored patterns all over!


Can someone help with diagnosis?

From what you say, the display or the graphic card is damaged. It looks like it could be the graphic card, because the display usually shows geometric patterns when the graphic card is damaged. The only thing you can do is to take the MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller. The logic board has to be replaced, so it will be expensive

I just went in yesterday to genius bar because my 2008 17" Macbook Pro would turn on but have a black screen. No video and they tried resetting it hooking up external monitor and nothing. They said it was the logic board. They quoted me $600 in store or $310 sending it out. I went with the cheaper option and just left my laptop with them yesterday. Hope this helps:)
