Q: When I turn my ipod on it makes a clicking noise and a red circle with an x in the middle appears along with web address for support

My ipod makes a clicking sound when I turn it on and then a red circle with an x in the center appears along with web address for support. I connected it to my Imac and a message appeared saying file is corrupted I opened itunes and it said to restore it.  Tried that but received message that it could not be restored. Does anyone know if there's a way to fix this problem without taking it in for repair or is that my only option.  If repair is needed any idea what the cost is.
