Q: can i use magsafe power adapter made for model A1290 and use it on a Model A1286?

I have a MACBOOK PRO MODEL A1286 and I am looking to purchase a back up power adapter. I am not sure if I can use a power adapter, rated at 85W which came with a MACBOOK PRO MODEL 1290 and use it on a MACBOOK PRO MODEL A1286.

I am inclined to think I can. There are two Magsafe connector that will work on my MACBOOK PRO A 1286: the "T" shape and the "L" shape.

As long as the power adapter is an 85 watt adapter, it should work fine!

Power adapters for Intel-based Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. Although you should always use the proper wattage adapter for your Apple notebook, you can use an adapter of a higher wattage without issue.
