Clean install OS X Lion Internet Recovery Error

Check the system date, that fixed the issue for me..

Open terminal, type: date

Set the date to the correct date like this:

date 042109582011

which, believe it or not, sets the date to 09:58 on Apr 21st, 2011

Then try to recover again.

Holy wow, I desperately gave this fix an attempt after noticing the MacBook pro thought it was 2001. Presto, problem solved, and Lion installed.

This fixed the issue for me also.

Launching Terminal from the Recovery Partition and typing

date

gave a date in 2001

Setting the date using date MMDDHHmmYYYY worked

So date 090409582013 sets the date to 4th September 2013, 9:58am

Wow! Awesome! My hard drive crashed on MacBook Pro 2011 and I didn't have a clone but instead on files backed up to online service. I bought a new SSD and tried to use the internet recovery but got this error. Used Terminal to change the date and time and it worked like a charm. Thank you.

Worked like a chime, all i did was click the time, open date and time and change the date to the current date. Date was off 1/1/2011.

So just change your date!
