Can I start up from an external sata drive from G4 desktop tower (early osx) on my iMac via USB sled?

1) Trying to start up a disk from my old G4 tower (previous older version of OSX)via my iMac. I have a device the I can connect the drive to my iMac (current OSX) via USB. Is this possible? The power supply was bad on the G4.

2) is it possible to export/import photos from iPhoto in this way?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), And earlier OSX on G4 mirror door

Hi,

Not likely startup from it, being too early of an OSX for a newer Mac, & as I recall only with 10.5.x was it possible to install a "Universal" version of the OS, stil, I doubt 10.5.x would be bootable by your iMac.

Still, you should be able to mount it on the iMac booted normally, & Import from it then. 🙂
