May 4, 2013 7:12 PM in response to richardfromselangorby sberman,Assuming your Apple TV and Mac are on the same network, these suggestions come from the HT5404 article you attached:
___
Your Apple TV may be asleep. Simply press a button on your Apple TV remote to wake it up. After a few seconds, the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra will appear.
Make sure your Apple TV has the current software update installed.
___
Firewall security settings
If you use the firewall, make sure the following firewall security options have been set to allow AirPlay Mirroring to work:
- Choose Apple menu () > System Preferences.
- Click Security & Privacy, and then click Firewall.
- Click the lock icon to unlock it if it's locked, then type an administrator name and password.
- Click Firewall Options.
- Uncheck (deselect) “Block all incoming connections” checkbox.
- Select (check) the “Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections” checkbox.

May 5, 2013 10:07 PM in response to sbermanby richardfromselangor,I have finally been able to get airplay to work however the quality of transmission is poor in that the picture is very jerky and pauses for a second or two when playing BBC iPlayer downloaded or staeaming programmes. Any idea why or how to remedy?
