I want to delete wifi network name from iphone 3gs before I return it to the provider. I have deleted the contents of the phone but the network name still appears, any suggestions?

when you are connected to your network on the phone tap on the blue > to the right of the name and then on the next screen tap Forget this network
Thank you, I did as you suggested but my network name still shoes on wifi, would prefer it to be empty when I return the phone to the provider.
Have you done all of this
To wipe phone
Turn off imessage in settings/messages
Turn off Facetime in settings/Facetime
Delete icloud account in settings/ilcoud
Erase all data and settings in settings/general/reset
Delete the phone from your profile in https://supportprofile.apple.com
That is because when you turn wifi on it searches for available wifi networks and you home network is in range but because you tapped forget this network it should not connec tto it unless of course you enter the password. Once you phoneis out of range of your hom wifi it will no longer find it or have remembered it because you have had the phone forget it
