Java

Hello,

I am trying to get Java to run on my (all updates installed) OSX 10.8.3 and can't get it to work.

I downloaded Java from http://www.java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp?locale=en

I installed it, all browsers (firefox and safari not running)

I restarted the entire computer.

There is the JavaAppletPlugin.plugin in Library/Internet Plug-Ins

I checked that Java is enabled in Safari-preferences-Security-Enable Java Script

I checked that Java is enabled in firefox under preferences-Content-Enable JavaScript

I checked that there is NO Java plugin in Firefox-Tools-Add-ons-Plugins. I don't know if this is important.

If I go to http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

with Firefox it tells me that no Java is installed.

with Safari it says "inactive plugin".

I followed all trouble shooting FAQ proposals, including de- and reinstall.

I still can't get Java to run.

Does anyone else have this Problem or can someone point me into the right direction on what to do?

Go here in safari. http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

Click on the inactive plugin message then click allow. You may see a java security message you need to allow, too.

Man, I've been searching and searching and searching for a fix to the java not enable issue since the apple OS update before summer of this year. Even went to the genisis at apple. They tried but since it's 3rd party it's just so much thry can do. Can't believe I finally found the fix and that it's been here since the update. I can finally remote into my work PC using my MAC again 🙂. Thank you Imp68!!
