In iMovie when you drag a title onto the timeline a window appears that lets you select backgrounds for the title so that you don't just have to have a black background, can you get this feature in Final Cut Pro 10.0.6? Also, can you put your own backgrounds in the titles such as photos? If so how? TIA

You can add a generator underneath a title or put any image video or still that you want. Most, but not all, titles are transparent.

Thanks, but it was actually getting the title to combine with the generators I was struggling with but I've just figured it out. Thanks for your help 🙂
Normally titles are connected clips. If the title is on the primary storyline, lift it out of the storyline with Opt-Cmd-Up arrow. Find the generator you want and drag it onto the gap clip that's now in the primary storyline, hold, and select replace from start.
Normally you edit in the gernator first, then when you double-click the title in the title browser it will connect to generator in the storyline.
Thanks, that sounds much better than what I did. All I did was create my title and then drag a generator to the space beow the main timeline, but then I had to trim the generator.
Baffles me why I can't find this info in the final cut help section 😕

That works too. Nothing wrong with that. Be careful with trimming generators. Some generators change speed when they're trimmed, and you might have to make them into a compound clip first.
