The folder"iTunes" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder

I replaced the hard drive recently due to recall, and now having problems with iTunes. My external hard drive was protected, which seemed to cause problems. Now the external is wiped and operating correctly from time machine. Before wiping the external, all of my files were copied on to the hard drive. Everything is working great execpt iTunes. I keep getting the error: The folder "iTunes" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder. iTunes has the correct write permission...what else could it be. Thanks!
