To access your media streaming devices on your local network, just use the VLC media app. Download and open it.

You should be able to see your Seagate Central media device (and any others you have).

Select it and then you should be asked for a username and password.

I selected 'anonymous logon' and it worked perfectly. You should then see your media.

Access will vary depending on how you've got your security set up. I've got my local network set to 'trusted' in the seagate device... so if yours is set the same, you should be all set. I 'think' that is the default. Otherwise, put in the correct username and password and that should work as well.

From all the forums and websites and blogs I've sifted through it seems it isn't possible at this stage.

A not so functional option is to access your media through the "SeagateMedia" app on iOS and then using airplay - switch the video/song/whatever over to Apple TV.

Problem is - it seems to only be able to play compatible file types ie won't play a ripped .AVI. So this method is flawed.

What converters are you taking about? And can you explain what you mean about it "stopping in the middle"?

Are txt/srt subtitles supported?

I also am trying to do this. The only reference I see to Apple TV on the Seagate site is connecting the Central to Seagate Wireless Plus - didn't find that helpful. Seagate specifically mentions the Apple TV in their sales literature so there must be some way to do this.
