My computers (mid 2012 macbook pro) fan is loud and won't turn off unless its closed. how can i fix this? i read about thr cpu % and checked that but the main thing cpu processor was a root....? whats that? and why wont delete?

I'm going to reask my question by make a little more since. Pretty much my MacBook Pro is mid 2012, intel i5 and it use to have 4GB of RAM but I recently changed it to 8GB of RAM. I'm not "new" to Apple to Macs, it's just I'm not fimilar with all the technical things involved with owning a Mac. I've been told numerous things on why my fan is running so loud, I just want to fix it. Can you, if you know of course, tell me reason why it could be running so loud and I'll just go from there?
I have been having the same problem and it's been driving me crazy, even with all applications shut down other than Chrome and Skype.
I just checked my CPU usage and saw that Splashtop Streamer was running at 96-100% CPU -- turns out it was on "auto-enable" and running in the background. You might want to check for things like this in your computer ..
I disabled it and voila - fan problem solved.
Ambient temperature also plays a big role- I live in the tropics and when it's hot out the fan runs constantly- If I work in an air conditioned room the fan goes off ..
