My macbook is stolen, what can I do to track it's use?

Hi,

My brand new macbook pro 15'' got stolen last weekend. It is password protected, but I would very much like two things to happen:

a) track if the macbook gets online somewhere and report this to the police

b) wipe the content remotely, although I made no special arrangements for this upfront.

Is there anything I can do, or should I have made arrangements for things like this when it was still in my possesion?

Thanks much,

~ Stephan

No, I did not do this due as I did not appreciate the benefit of being able to track my hardware when it is in the hands of others.

Now that it is officially stolen, is there something I can do?

The Applestore I visited said they can't do much except for tracking the serialnumber in case the macbook comes back to the two stores that are owned by the same company.
