bouncing midi track

I 'm trying to bounce/record midi instrument tracks with or without audio or audio instrument tracks in Logic Pro 9. I used to do it in Logic Express 7 routinely. Now I can't do it there either. Can someone help me with that?

thanks

Thanks for your initial reply. Let me try to clarify:

I want to record/bounce external midi track(s) from my sound module, which is a housed in the same box as my audio/midi interface. Dont know how much difference that makes.

In the past, with Logic Express 7, I could just hight light or solo the tracks, select my output 1-2 track, hit "bounce" and I would have an audio track. Of course this could only be done in real time.

I had not been using LE 7 for a long time and had not tried the process in Log Pro 9. Anyway, I attempted to carry it out in Logic Pro 9. it appears to be recording/bouncing the external midi track, however, once it's done, no audio is there. The odd thing is, the file is the same size as if it contained audio.

I usually bounce both a .wav and mp3 file. They both appear, with the usual difference in file size. But neither has actual audio. Real strange!!

Hope that's clear. Again, appreciate your time and help.

PS: I went back to try it in LE 7, on another computer, and that's not happening now, either!

Yes, I do always bounce external midi tracks in realtime. BTW, I've tried to make sure my midi setup in the Multi-instrument layer of the environment is correct. How much affect, if any, does that make? If I retain the environment the way it comes out of the box, should that be sufficient to bounce/record midi tracks to audio?

Thanks
