Q: iPhone 4S keeps dying from battery even though the battery isn't drained

Hello,

I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 6.1.3. I've run into this problem now a few times as it has been happening about once a week. Suddenly my phone will die as if the battery has just died, even though it is no where near reaching 0%. The three times it has happened it has been somewhere around 80%, 60% and 20% (I don't remember the exact numbers but it was around there). I've tried doing a force reset several times, holding down the power and home buttons, but that hasn't helped.

Does anyone have an idea of what I can do?

Thanks in advance.

    Hello shak77,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.  I found some steps that I think would help with this issue:

    Frozen or unresponsive iPhone

    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/

You can skip the first two sections because it sounds like you have already tried those steps.  Please start with the third section that talks about closing apps and continue from there.

    Best,

    Sheila M.

    Hi Sheila,

Thanks for the link. I tried all of those steps besides restoring. Do you think there is any other way besides restoring. I just don't want to lose all of my settings and other app information.

    Thanks.

Restoring the iPhone and replacing iOS is the only way to rule out software as the problem. You can try backing up your iPhone, then restoring it as a new device and testing it for a few days to easily find out if it's a hardware problem.

If it is, just setup service.

If it isn't just sync everything to the iPhone again.

Before restoring your IPhone always remember to use ITunes download it then turn your phone off then plug it into the computer with ITunes on it and ITunes should start up look for a cell phone symbol up near the left hand corner tap it your phone summary should appear allowing you the option to :  Update, Restore, Backup to ICloud or to your computer, and sync.  It's always good to download the ICould app to take advantage of the 5G of free storage.  Check your settings make sure your ICloud Drive is set to on and ICloud Backup is set to on.  This helps to insure after restore your can get your info by backing up your phone.
