poor signal reception on iphone

my iphone 5 often losses its network signal. i am islanded from the network often. this affects my connectivity with my business & friends. with this problem my iPhone 5 is working like only an iPod. certainly iPhone 5 is not meeting the purpose of a mobile phone.

can anyone suggest me some solution for this issue..?
