Q: How can I bypass admin p/word on 2ndhand iMac?

Hi all,

Password initially worked but now it won't.  Cannot create user accounts which show on start up nor can I sync iPhone to transfer media.  Cannot update software either without password. Argh!

Previous owner told me use one which previously did work but that he didn't know how to help me since it wouldn't accept it now.

How do I overcome this problem?  I do not have the original install disc.

I thought perhaps that I could uninstall this current version & re-install with my Macbook Pro install disc (2010) but would my current iMac cope?

How do I find out what year this iMac is & whether it would be compatible with my 2010 disc?

Please help
