How many apps do you have running?
Double tap the home button and scroll throught the list of running apps at the bottom on the multitasking bar.

all my apps appear here does that mean they are all running and if so how do i close them. i thought when i came out of them the shut off.

iPhones do not quit applications without your consent.
Press and hold one of the apps.
Hit the red minus sign that appears above each app that you want to close
