Ive been trying for days to recover my contacts from 3G upgrade

Ive been trying for days how to recover my contacts and emails from Iphone 3G after upgrading in itunes from 313 to 421.cannot find a password that works to recover backup info. Why is it sooooo HARD to do this. help please

What do you want us to do for you?

If you forgot the password to your encrypted backup, then you can not use it.

If you were syncing your contacts to a supported contact manager or cloud service, they should still be there. Sync them back.
