How to enable Automatic Login?

Automatic Login option is set to off and is uneditable.


System Preferences -> Users & Groups -> Login Options - > Automatic login: Off


Uneditable. The pull-down is grayed out. The sheet is unlocked and I can make other edits such as "Show Password Hints."


A Guest login is enabled.


FileVault is enabled.


Firewall is On.


I have this same config on another Mt. Lion machine and am able to enable automatic login.

You are only supposed to be able to set auto login to ON if Filevault is disabled. Are you sure you have Filevault enabled on the other machine? See this article for information:
