CD's Won't burn!?!?! Help!!!

I have downloaded itunes for my pc and am trying to burn a cd that was paid for and downloaded. The problem is it keeps starting the burn process then cancels it...PLEASE help! I have an Acer Aspire v5-431 series with windows 8 I haven't had any problems previously but this is the first time using itunes. The hubby wanted a particular cd and we couldn't find it anywhere.
