You plug in each mic into an input on whatever audio interface you have (which you have selected in Logics' audio devices preferences), create two audio tracks, select input 1 for one and input 2 for the second, hit the R button, and hit the Record button.
That should do it.
Thank you Eriksimon but I'm afraid I did not correctly ask my question. I am using two USB mics without an external interface. They are plugged into seperate USB ports on my Imac and I can only access one or the other for recording purposes. I wish to use them at the same time on two seperate record-enabled tracks so that I can obtain either seperate vocal tracks or a stereo image of an acoustic guitar. One of my mics is a stereo Yeti but I am not satisfied with the results using the stereo capsule arrangement. Thanks again!
This doesn't work for me with 2 yeti mics since as soon as the second one is plugged into the mac, the first one disappears from the list of audio devices. The problem seems to be having 2 identical mics.
This is just a guess on my part.. do you by any chance have a USB hub laying around, preferably a powered hub. Try one mic directly into the computer and the second mic into the hub.
I repeat, don't go buying a hub expecting this to work, if you have one or can borrow one it's worth a try, you will still need to create and aggregate device.
I used my Apple wired keyboard as a hub and plugged one into a mac mini and one into the keyboard. Again, just one shows up in Audio MIDI setup. I looked at the USB device tree in the system information utility and it correctly shows that there are 2 mics, and correctly identifies where in the device tree they are connected.
David, and just one shows up in the Aggregate device editor.
The reason I mentioned a powered up is the USB mics require quite a bit of USB power but since both are showing up in the S.I. USB tree they're probably fine.
Speaking of operational, which mic is working when selected in Logic? The 1st one plugged in or the 2nd.
The one that shows up is the last one connected to the Mac.
I heard back from Blue and they said
Unfortunately because the Yetis have the same digital “thumbprint” they will be recognized as the same mic in your operating system and can’t be used together.
Just to add to what David has said, I got the same email from Blue about the "digital thumbprint" but they did offer a soulution. They have offered to change the thumbprint of the mics, so that they can all be seen as different mics. I simply have to send them in. A small price to pay to be able to have 4 Yeti's recording at the same time.
Ah.. this now all makes sense... given they all have the same 'digitial thumbprint..' though I might add, that's a pretty dumb 'feature' but then, maybe they never thought of anyone wishing to use more than 1 at a time when they designed it?
Thanks guys for getting to the bottom of this.. I'll add this cause/solution to my DB for future reference...
