I use iStat Menus to moniter my download/upload speed but I can never get a download speed more than 30kbps (peak at 29.9-30.1kbps which seems so strange). My roommate owes a PC and has no trouble at all. I am using Mountain Lion with all the lastest updates installed. Is there anything wrong with my mac?
I've tried diagnostics and renew dhcp lease but none of them worked.

What speeds are you expecting/does the PC get? Does Speedtest give the same result: http://www.speedtest.net/
i am expecting 200kpbs to watch lectures, which is what he got on his PC.
Speed test result: upload: 0.21Mbps while download: 0.06 Mbps but I am pretty sure we have the 6Mbps internet.
Is there anything to do with the host? or just my mac?

it's not just about unit convertion. 6 Mbps broadband is like 800 kbps download speed. I tried them all and somehow it works now. Thanks😁
