Firewall blocks wireless scanner

Hi guys,

I've just purchased an EPSON WF-3520, and I'm having problems using the quick scan function on the printer.

The scanner does work, if I operate the EPSON scanner software from my mac.

However, when trying use the quickscan function on my actual printer to scan over WIFI to my macbook, The printer comes up with an error saying "Communication error. Check if a computer is conncted."

I thought this might have something to do with the OSX firewall blocking an incoming signal from the scanner. I switched the firewall off, and tested the quick scan function on the printer again and this time it worked, sending the scanned image over WIFI to my mac.

Does anyone have any idea how to allow the firewall to accept an incoming scanner signal? I've checked my firewall settings and have set "allow connection" for all my EPSON software; printer, scanner etc. It still wont accept quick scans from the printer unless the firewall is off.

I've looked into the EPSON scan setting software, and there seems to be a port number. Am I supposed to put this port number in somewher on my mac to allow incoming scans to come through?

Thanks in advance!
