how do i disable dashboard .

Helped me too! Another post suggested that a third-party app was causing Dashboard to spontaneously start every three minutes—MOST ANNOYING! When I couldn't find that trouble maker I just did your Terminal trick and [temporarily at least] terminated Dashboard. YAY! Thank You!
