Unexplained Cellular Data Consumption

The Cellular Data button is set to off, and I haven't even used my iPad for several days. Yet the remaining 50% of my Sprint data plan was used up in one day. Has anyone else experinced this? Any ideas what could be going on? And BTW, I've had good wifi on my other devices the entire time. Sprint Broadband support was not able to explain the loss.

Morning CarolAnn777,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Adjust your settings to prevent applications from using the cellular network connection to send or receive data:

You can also temporarily disable cellular data when it’s not needed.

  • From the Home screen:
    • iPhone: Tap Settings > General > Network
    • iPad: Tap Settings > Cellular Data
  • Slide the toggle next to Cellular Data to off. This will disable all cellular data traffic until it’s enabled again.

Hope this helps,

Mario

Mario, did you notice that CarolAnn777 said "The Cellular Data button is set to off"?

CarolAnn777, there are reports of cellular data usage tracking lagging behind by as much as several days. Is it possible that this is previous usage just now showing up in a lump? (I don't recall whether any of these reports involved Sprint.)
