I can't play songs from my ipod classic on the new itunes, I used to be able to just plug it in to my work computer

I can't play songs from my ipod classic on the new itunes, I used to be able to just plug it in to my work computer and just play songs through the ipod now everything is grey and unclickable. Help?!
