Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to edit this question. I'd like to add that the keyboard works fine.

Carefully read support.apple.com/kb/ht2845
Did all that. That doesn't talk about the wireless numerical keypad. I've installed new batteries before when they went down. this time it wouldn't connect. the wireless mouse and keyboard are ok. If I push what i think is a reset buton on the back of the numerical keypad the activity light on the front flashes for a while then just stops. Me thinks its not seeing the bluetooth is activ and detectable. It shows up in preferences/bluetooth but its not lite up.
Thanks
Ron
Ron,
Do both a SMC resets 2x each then attempt to connect and post results.
I did an SMC reset, twice to no avail. Went to Best Buy where I bought it thinking maybe the keypad was bad... Well it wasn't. They guided me and what fixed it was going to "Sys Preferences/Bluetooth and deleteng the keypad and then adding it again. now all is fine. Thjanks all.
