Q: Websites, Wiki, Profile Manager won't load in browser

Hello,

I just upgraded my 10.6 Server to 10.8 and am now using the Server.app.  I had to change networks as well and give the machine a new IP address.  I've also completely blown out DNS settings, demoted to a stand alone server and then set it all back up again as a Domain controller with DNS settings.  I also paid for and installed an SSL certification from GoDaddy and it is ready to go on the Server.

My problem is that when I enable the Websites, Wiki, or Profile Manager Services they will not load in Safari and I get the error that Safari cannot connect to the server.

Also - I have set up the server and domain name with my host provider so it should be accessible from outside my local network.

Any thoughts or help would be most appreciated.

I wonder if there are issues because:

1) This is an upgrade from Snow Leopard

2) This machine used to have a different IP address AND was associated with a different Domain/Server name.

Thanks

There really isn't enough data in your post to answer your question directly. All that we know is that Safari can't load the server.

The specific error message would help - it might identify whether Safari cannot resolve the hostname (points to DNS), can't find the specified address (could be DNS or networking), or whether it contacted the server but didn't get a response (could be server-level).

Also, what troubleshooting steps have you taken? Have you confirmed that the DNS is resolving in the way you expect? Can you ping the server from the client? Can you connect to port 80? If so, what error messages do you get in Apache? All this (and likely more) will help pinpoint the source of the problem.
