How do i symch the icloud back to my mac when updated?

I used iCloud to take contacts and calendar (Entourage and ical) to populate my new Iphone 5. The contacts went to the iphone (overwriting my "wanted" cell phone numbers). No calendar info transferred. I started plugging cell numbers into the iCloud-created contacts adding the data to contacts and creating others. I also added a calendar event from the iPhone. I see all of this when I access the cloud via internet, but none gets to my iMac. How do make that happen, and how do I prevent the outdated contact base in my iMac from overwriting what I have updated in the iCloud via my iPhone?
