iPhoto doesn´t want to quit...all it says is :please wait for import to complete....although i´m not importing anything..so i can´t even shut down my mac...

Launch the Terminal applicatrion and enter the following:

killall iPhoto

That will close iPhoto and any open library files that may be open. The other method is to use the Command+Option+Esc key combination to open the Force Qujit window where you can select iPhoto and force quit it. But this won't close any library files that may be open.
