For the last week or so my wireless mouse has occasionally lost connection with my iMac (bought in November 2009). The batteries were recently renewed and show as 100% charged in the preferences/mouse window. When I take the back off and fiddle with the batteries and the on/off switch the connection usually returns, but today this failed. Is this a known characterisic of a 3+ year old mouse?
May be too obvious for words but when you take off the back do you clean the battery terminals before reassembly.

make two balls of foil, and put it between the battery and the connecting metal.
