Macbook Pro 2012 SATA 3 SSD not running at 6gb/s

I just bought a Macbook Pro 2012 (non-retina) and am trying to figure out how to fix the link speed. Currently, the negotiated link speed is 3 gb/sec, but I want to push it to the full 6 gb/sec. I bought a 480 gb Sandisk Extreme SSD which is supposed to be SATA III capable, but can't seem to figure out what is causing the issue between the SSD and the MBP.

Is there something that I'm missing here?

Thanks guys,

I found the error to my problem and it runs to 6 gb/sec. The problem was that the sandisk was initially in a Macbook Pro Late-2008. When it comes to SSD's with a sanforce driver, SATA III is reversed right back down to SATA I. To fix this without an EFI update from Apple, the SSD's from Sandisk decided to adapt and place a firmware that will recognize the MBP 2008's SATA II revision, but once you use the firmware, it will lock the SSD at SATA II until you can reverse the effects with another firmware update.

Using the reversal firmware lifted the lock and now I'm seeing it all at 6 beautiful gigs of link speed.

Thanks for the effort!
