not playing AVI files
I have an AVI file that is not playing in QuickTime player.
The error message says 'A required codec isn't avalible'. Why is that?

Because there isn't a codec installed for that specific AVI; as AVI is a container, not a format, it's impossible to be certain, but it's most likely either part of Perian or doesn't exist for Mac OS X.
