Hi,
My hard drive stopped working, and I would like to purchase a new one.
After checking with several vendors, I could not get an official answer if their drive is supported by Mac Mini early 2009 model.
Can you please advice what hard drive vendors/models do you know are supported?

The Mac mini uses a 2'5" hard disk, and near all of these hard disks will work with your computer. You can buy the hard disk in OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/
If you want more information, you can only use 9.5 mm hard drives, so search them in OWC and you will find hard drives that will work with your computer. HGST drives have a good reputation and work very well
Do you know if 7200 speed hardbdrive works perfectly on Mac mini early 2009 model?
My concern is in terms of heat and cooling?

Yes it will work just fine.
I put a > HGST Travelstar 2.5 Inch 500GB 7200 RPM SATA II 16 MB Hard drive into my 2010 Mac Mini and it actually runs cooler than the stock 320GB Toshiba.
I can't speak for the 2.5" WD 7200 rpm Scorpion Black, but have had real good luck with other WD Internal 2.5 and 3.5" drives in older Mac Mini's and iMac's.
