please be a little more specific, Waynes answer is for the equivalent of "center and merge" button in excel

The equivalent on iOS is:

  1. Select Range of cells by draggin your finger from one to the last.
  2. Tap "Merge" on the pop up menu that appears once you lift your finger
  3. Tap the "wrench" icon (while the merged cell is still selected)
  4. Tap "Cells" tab and select alignment in the third row of buttons

Jerry is talking about text overflow when text does not fit into a single cell but nothing is on the right hand side. (I believe header columns wont be overwritten even if blank no matter the format) This happens the same in iOS.

But you can also select a range of cells and format their alignment at one time. More information or a screenshot of a workbook you have this done in (maybe from XL), and we can better assist.

Jerry, Not quite what i was saying, let me clarify what I meant by "I believe header columns wont be overwritten" ...

If I am in column B and Column A is a header column. If i type in long text and set Column B to right justification, it truncates the beginning of the data where it would flow into the column header A. However, If i left justify , it overflows into the adjacent cells to the right.

If my text is in column C, it will flow into B, but truncate when it reaches A.

This might be behavior on just the ipad, if you can check it for me on the desktop for comparison that would be great sir,

Thanks alot

Jason,

There are a couple of points that could cause confusion. If by "overwritten" you mean an alteration of content of adjacent cells, I've never seen that happen. Regarding the truncation, it depends on whether Column B is a Header column or a Body Column. A Body cell won't flow across a Header cell, but a Header cell will flow across a (blank) body cell.

Clear as mud?

Jerry
