I just purchased an apple Superdrive and plugged it into one of the USB ports on my New Mac Mini and id doesn't seem to recognize it. I thought that it woud be plug and play. Am I missing something?

You need to insert a disk, and that SuperDrive only works out of the box on Mac models which didn't include an internal optical drive..

I tried to insert a disk but it wouldn't accept it. I'm actually using Lion v10.8.3 on a Mac Mini wich doesn't have DVD drive

You should not be posting in the SL forums. Post in the Lion forums and/or call AppleCare since your superdrive is still under warranty.
