Driving me mad. Have tried most solutions, screen still presents Red Cross in a circle. iTunes doesn't recognise the ipod, pressing the menu & go button together doesn't correct it. Various turn on/off of iTunes, laptop, ipod combinations don't work. Any ideas or a solution?

Thanks for the link Griff but It really doesn't respond to anything. I'm going to the Apple Shop to see if they have any ideas. It's out of warrantee so I'll see if it worth the repair costs. It seems this Red Cross display is the kiss of death for iPods.
