Hi my 3g is stuck on apple logo after a reset, I bought it second hand and was just removing the other persons settings, it now wont do anything, wont even recognise in itunes to restore, please help,

Try forcing it into recovery mode and restore it (seehttp://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808). It you pc still won't recognize it follow the troubleshooting steps in #5 at the bottom of this article:http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 under "If device not recognized in Recovery Mode".
If it's not turning off when you hold home and power, it's a hardware issue. You should take it to an Apple Store; it's unlikely they will care that it's jailbroken, especially if it won't even boot.
