Closed caption track in QuickTime digitized using FCP 7.0.3
Hi All,
Here are some details about my setup:
Mac Pro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Xeon
6 GB RAM
OS 10.6.8
FCP 7.0.3
AJA Io Express (9.1)
I'm digitizing uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 QuickTime video from S-VHS and VHS tape sources. When I capture using Final Cut Pro 7.0.3, without fail, a closed caption track (CEA-608) is automatically created in the resulting QuickTime. It seems that the track is empty, and I can't see any captions when I view the QuickTime file in QuickTime Player X and use "Show Closed Captioning". Here is the signal path I'm using during capture:
VHS (Sony SVO-5800) - Y/C out > AJA HD10AVA (a-to-d) - SDI out > AJA Io Express > uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 QuickTime video, 24-bit/48.0 kHz stereo audio
I have VANC disabled in the AJA Io Express control panel. When I digitize in the exact same manner using AJA VTR Xchange, a Closed Caption track is not included in the resulting QuickTime. Is there a setting to keep FCP from creating a closed caption track when digitizing from SD-SDI sources?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
