i have iphone 5 from ntlose and im trying to use it on north africa ,Tunisia .i have been told that it may work in some places but not all of them and i want to know before travelling .

Who is ntlose? What type of wireless providers are there in Tunisia, GSM? Is the phone unlocked? As far as who the providers are in the area you want to travel, I''m not sure anyone here can answer that question unless they live and/or travel in that area.
This is a user to user technical support forum, not Apple. You may need to check with providers in that area as to whether the phone will work on their system and what type of coverage they have.
"ntelos" ,it's cdma network .
we have 2 locan network and one from france .the 3g work on the iphone 4s with unlocking sim when i was there last summer .it's called "Orange",it's from france ,"Tunisian " and "Telecome " .
Do you know the type of networks in the area where you intend to travel? You will not be able to use a CDMA phone outside your country unless you have an international roaming agreement. You may be able to use the GSM side with a local SIM if your carrier will unlock the phone. That is entirely up to them.
it's gsm .we don't have cdma .
You said the phone was from a CDMA network, so it should be a CDMA phone. However the iPhone 5 does have the ability to be used on a GSM network, but it has to be unlocked. Only the original carrier it was locked to can unlock the device.

And even more interesting is the fact they do not provide unlocking services. They appear to be a regional outfit, but provide nationwide coverage, but after spending a few minutes on the site, I cannot tell if they are GSM or CDMA. Oh well.

The list is on the Apple web site and all it does it indicate who is an Apple Approved carrier in each country
To use outside US you will either need the iPhone to be unlocked by ntelos and use a local sim or have them set up roaming and pay the bill on your contract
Orange is the only approved carrier in Tunisia
im 100% sure that it's gsm netwrod that use sim card .so if Tunisia is in the list ,does that mean that my phone will work there ?

but NOT whilst it is carrier locked to ntelos unless you have ntelos set up roaming for you
uh ,ntelos will not unlock it .they told ne it wiil be unlocked before i signe the contract but now they said no.roming is expensive ,3$/min .i rother get other phone and leave ntelos when my countract is doen .they got me for 4 lines and really regret it now .
the only source of non carrier locked iPhones in US (and anywhere else for that matter ) is Apple Itself
All others will be locked because the carrier has subsidised the purchase or it is a scam
