May 11, 2013 1:06 PM in response to thirdshiftdesignsby sberman,Try resetting your iPad. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till you see the Apple logo.
You should see your iPad speakers again in AirPlay.

May 11, 2013 1:12 PM in response to sbermanby thirdshiftdesigns,I did completely reset (removed all content and settings) my iPad before I posted this, but just to try- I did a soft reset (holding the home and power button down). This did not work. I do see something that I'm not sure I've seen before.. It says "dock connector" in the AirPlay options which seems odd to me....

May 11, 2013 1:17 PM in response to thirdshiftdesignsby sberman,"Dock connector" is odd - I agree.
So I think you mean you erased all content and settings earlier, and then restored your iPad from something (like iTunes, perhaps iCloud). Hopefully that completed normally, with a sync, etc. Then hopefully you remembered to eject the iPad from iTunes before you physically decoupled the two from the USB cable.
If not, you might wish to repeat at least the sync process, remembering the eject at the end.
